Child Safety Standards

Dukuduku, operated by Zaga, has zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE) and for child sexual abuse material (CSAM). This page sets out our standards, how anyone can report a concern, and what we do when we receive one. It applies to every part of the service: voice posts, titles, comments, voice replies, GIFs and profiles.

1. What is prohibited

• Any content that sexualises a child, including audio, text, images, GIFs, links or descriptions.
• Grooming: trying to build contact with a child for sexual purposes, or asking a child for images or to meet.
• Sharing, requesting or pointing to child sexual abuse material anywhere.
• Sextortion or threats against a child, or content that encourages others to harm a child.
• Content that identifies a child who has been abused, or that mocks or glorifies abuse.

Dukuduku is for adults aged 18 and over. We remove accounts and content we learn belong to someone younger.

2. How we prevent it

• Every post is reviewed before it appears in the public feed.
• Voice posts are transcribed so reviewers can read what was said, not only listen.
• Users cannot send private messages to each other, which removes a common route to grooming.
• Any post or comment can be reported from inside the app, and reports are reviewed by people.

3. How to report

• In the app: open the post or comment, tap the menu (⋯) and choose Report.
• By email: write to our child-safety contact at safety@dukuduku.co.tz. Describe what you saw and, if you can, the time it was posted or the words used. Do not send us copies of abusive images or recordings.
• If a child is in immediate danger, contact the police first. In Tanzania you can also call the free national child helpline 116.

4. What we do with a report

1. Reports about child safety are handled before any other moderation work.
2. Content that breaks these standards is removed and the account or device responsible is banned.
3. We preserve the relevant records and report confirmed child sexual abuse material and exploitation to the appropriate authorities, including the Tanzania Police Force and, where applicable, the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC).
4. We cooperate with lawful requests from law enforcement investigating harm to a child.

5. Compliance

We comply with the child-protection laws of Tanzania, including the Law of the Child Act and the Cybercrimes Act, and with the child-safety requirements of the app stores that distribute Dukuduku.
